New to the Langham Estate, outdoor clothing brand Patagonia is creating their first UK showroom on the ground floor of 17-18 Margaret Street. They have plans to comprehensively refurbish the 1,500 square foot unit to showcase their collections.
Patagonia is an outdoor clothing company that sells apparel for what they call ‘silent sports’ such as climbing, snow-boarding, surfing and fly-fishing. They currently have headquarters in Japan, France and the USA with retail stores in 15 countries across the globe including Argentina, Australia, Hong Kong and Korea.
The company has a strong emphasis on corporate responsibility, publicizing their complete factory list on their website and donating 1% of sales to grass-root environmental groups (over $46 million since 1985). Patagonia have a clear emphasis on limiting their ‘adverse social and environmental impacts’ and publish ‘The Footprint Chronicles®’ which examine this.
Their concern to protect the environment extends to the choice of materials used to manufacture their clothing, which include hemp, organic cotton and recycled nylon, polyester and wool.
