“Important East End Gallery”, Stuart Shave Modern Art, to open a major new space at the heart of London’s West End.
Stuart Shave Modern Art is delighted to announce the opening on April 19 2008 of its new gallery at 23-25 Eastcastle Street, W1, at the very centre of London’s West End. The inaugural show at Eastcastle Street will be The New Accursed Art Club (19 April 18 May 2008), an exhibition of major new paintings by acclaimed British artist, Nigel Cooke.
Designed by architect David Kohn, the 6,500sq ft premises will more than double the gallery¹s exhibition space and will also give additional viewing and office space. Previously known as the Garment District of central London this area just behind Oxford Circus lends itself ideally to gallery use as many of the buildings were designed with showrooms specifically in mind.
Since opening in London¹s East End in 1998, Modern Art has built a reputation for selecting and supporting both young emerging artists, as well as collaborating with more established figures. The increasingly ambitious installations created by the gallery¹s group of 24 outstanding artists from the UK, Europe and America spurred Modern Art to find a more flexible space..
Moving out of Vyner Street into the new gallery at Eastcastle Street will provide the gallery artists with a larger, more dynamic space where they will be able to realize large-scale experimental projects
